Back to the farm

Back to the farm – weeding, watering (it has been unbelievably dry, the earth is like concrete), nurturing, encouraging, praying there are enough roses out for this weekend’s weddings, planning the season, adjusting the website and downloading pictures of the new season’s roses! Rain is forecast, which is good, but the warmth has brought the entire countryside to bloom – at the same moment – so we have narcissi, lilac, May and Hawthorne, ragged campion and bluebells, cow parley (grandmother’s lace to my family), tulips and clematis and peony trees all out at the same moment in a cacophony of colour!
